This work represents Francis Kung‘s universal philosophy of the purpose of life, the way life works and ways to better living. Citing a range of well known teachers, philosophers and leaders from across the ages, Dr Kung weaves his own wisdom throughout in an easy to read and enjoyable way.
The author says “Wisdom comes to us through our own seeking, finding, thinking, knowledge and enlightenment.
It is very difficult to impart, teach or tell anyone in words.
To some, the wisdom of others may even seem foolish.
Therefore, this work only serves to communicate knowledge but not wisdom.
Moreover, it requires wisdom to understand wisdom.
May this bring inspiration to you to set your own purpose in life in a way that will assure happiness and creation of a better place for every one.
This is my gift to you.”

Authors: Sue Erica Smith and Serena Seah
Format: Printed binder (318pp Text plus 12pp The Life of the Buddha book)
Publisher: Buddhist Council of Victoria www.bcvic.org.au
Published: November 2008
ISBN: 978-0-646-50211-3
Victorian State Primary Schools have up to 30 mins religious education available per week if it is desired by the school and parents. It is at the local level that the decisions are taken as to what religions are offered and invited to attend the school. The Buddhist Council of Victoria's Education Program have difficulty sourcing, training and supplying enough volunteer teachers to respond to all requests.
To help recruit and support existing teachers, the need for a ‘one-stop’ Curriculum Manual was conceived and various passionate people representing the three Buddhist traditions have worked diligently to bring it to fruition. Based on collected experiences of the program, now in its fifth year, the Curriculum Manual has plenty to do, filled with stories, plays and craft activities and the meditations that have worked best in class. It is a flexible curriculum where the teacher will be free to choose the lessons they think most appropriate for each section.
The BCV wishes that its elixir of Dharma, Discovering Buddha, officially launched Friday 14 November 2008, nourishes many children and all living beings!
Those who are practising Buddhists, have a regular surplus of time during school hours and wish to develop a deeper understanding of other traditions and individual practise are invited to make contact. As the situation involves working with children in a government school, satisfactorily passing of government requirements forms part of the application and training process.
For more information, please contact the Buddhist Council of Victoria directly by visiting: www.bcvic.org.au.

This interactive multi-dimensional work is for the child (age 9+) and accompanying adult (aged -100). Discover lots of exciting truths, about life, themselves and getting along with others, sprinkled with some boring bits. Included with the story is the companion book (a 12pp secret handbook useful to have when reading the Cool Cucumber Club adventures) plus twelve coloured pencils, a red pen and three paper clips.
Practised self-reliant high achievers will appreciate the opportunity to use all their talents in one place, especially illustrating and colouring in. Those with learning or language obstacles will benefit from an un-level playing field where their usually hidden strengths make them shine. Those with behavioural obstacles learn about choices and consequences in an adventurous, fun and safe way. The accompanying adult will be mostly confused, instead taking satisfaction from basking in the reflective glory of the shining child next to them.
This is a ‘work-inprogress‘ community participation production: black and white laserprinted onto recycled paper, hand stapled and dispatched with love. Readers‘ feedback is sometimes included and sometimes ignored with a big ‘herrumpf’, depending on the state of mind at the time of the author(s). As a result, the pdf sample here will differ:
a) not at all
b) completely, or
c) anywhere in between
from the printed version you receive, thankyou for your patience and understanding!
